Sorry, haven’t posted in a while, getting used to college and all that, but here’s a book I’ve finished reading about a week ago.
Epic, by Conor Kostick was a great book if you’re into the Orson Scott Card, it’s about a world where violence is against the law and disputes are settled through a virtual world called Epic. Not only that, but your social and economic standings as well. Erik, a boy who has always followed the rules, is faced with the dilemma of saving his father from exile by challenging the ruling government, aka the strongest and wealthiest players of the game, not only that, but he also has to decide the end of Epic, thereby forcing his world to create a new system to follow.
This was definitely an interesting book and a change in the dystopian novels I’ve been reading lately. The sequel Saga was just as good and I highly recommend it if you like Epic. The third and final book of the series, Edda came out on August 4th and I am definitely going to be reading that.
This brought back memories… and since it’s Richard Scarry’s 92nd Birthday, I thought it fit that I would make a post about one of the first books I ever read [after the Disney golden books of course ;) ] So… Happy Birthday Mr. Scarry!!
anxirium asked: Hi, seems like we both like some dystopian, lol. :)
Lol they’re good stories!! Though.. I don’t know if that’s a good thing xDD
Okay, so I just finished reading Divergent by Veronica Roth and I can now confirm that it is its own story. It definitely does have some Hunger Games qualities in it, but it is a story of its own. In some ways it’s a lot more psycological than Collins’s book and it doesn’t exactly end. While Collins’s book always has some sort of conclusion, Tris and Tobias have no idea what is to happen to them or their world. For those who are still skeptical about it being another fad like Twilight (we really don’t need another one of those) it really isn’t, it’s a good read and you will be satisfied… well with the story, maybe not the ending. =)
Happy Reads!!
